AVELINA
Born into a wealthy and influential family, Avelina discovered her powers in divination and insight from an early age and decided to use these talents to curb evil and to help bring peace back to the lands.
Not wanting to rely on her mental powers alone, she started learning the art of the quarterstaff and to her surprise and delight, she found that the ways of this weapon came quite naturally to her. Avelina now decided she was ready to go out into the world and face whatever dangers came upon her. The timing turned out to be quite right as her father had just announced his plans for her marriage to the son of a neighbouring, powerful Earl. Avelina's restless and individual spirit had no desire to be a kept wife of one who she considered to be an egotistical, pompous and self-centred moron. So quietly one night, she wrote a farewell letter to her family, gathered together a small pack of her belongings, some money, her staff, and softly called out to her faithful hound Wolfy (pronounced Wol-fy) to come, for surely she couldn't leave him behind, and crept out quietly into the darkness of the night. She made her way to the stables, saddled her horse, secured her belongings in the saddlebags, but kept her staff in hand. While mounting her horse, Wolfy looked up at her and gave a small whine. 'Yes Wolfy' she replied, 'let's go.' Wofly ran out ahead as she walked her horse out the gate and did not look back. Rather, she set her mind and looked to the future before her...
